3/28/07 Results Show

I was a little bummed at first that Phil was in the bottom three. Then I realized that of course Sanjaya wouldn't be. And then I remembered that Phil isn't one of my favorites. I got nervous when they called Sligh to the middle of the stage. But his performance was pretty bad so I guess it makes sense. Hayley in the bottom three was right. Sligh being sent home was wrong. oh well. Mandisa went home in 9th last year. That was just a little out loud wishful thinking.

Gwen Stefani is adorable. I'm not sure Akon could hear himself. I don't know what his part in that song is supposed to be but I assume it is more than nothing. That's what he was doing last night. Nothing. But he was looking mighty fine.

Sligh sounded a thousand times better singing himself out. It was sweet to see him hugging everybody.

Chris Richardson always seems to endear himself more to me on results night. I loved how he moved over by Blake when Sligh was singing. Such a cute kid.

Next week is Tony Bennett songs. *yawn*

3/27/07 Top Ten Performance Show

Gwen Stefani looks adorable. She's so cute.

Lakisha "Last Dance" - boring. safe. comfort zone. yadda yadda. *yawn* She really is boring to me.

Sligh "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic" - Gwen says his tempo is off. I'm not loving this but I do still like his voice. Randy called it a "trainwreck". I don't think it was that bad. jeez. I do agree with the "hear that beat" though. Because he clearly was not. ooooh. Rushing Simon right along.

Gina "I'll Stand By You" - So sweet that she's so choked up with Gwen. I think she did a good job with this one. Great song choice. Great boots. There were a few weak parts but overall, I thought it was her best to date. "best performance so far tonight" I agree, Simon.

Sanjaya "Bathwater" - oh the hair. I guess he's in on what the media is doing to him? He really has a good voice. Really. He does. He just needs more experience. I love him. "gumption" Paula said. Yep. That's what he needs. "ponyhawk"
ah. Apparently they are all in on it. Ryan thanked him for the entertainment.

Haley "True Colors" - she was doing fine (not good not great but fine) until she tried putting bigger notes in there than it needed or required. Unmemorable. Yep.

Phil "Every Breath You Take" - so... I'm guessing Gina was the only one the spoilers got wrong. *sigh* I got my hopes up when I caught her performance. Phil. Phil is odd looking. Gwen was pleasantly surprised. gross... Okay about 30 seconds in. I'm going to try not watching because I really like his voice sometimes. *rewind* And without watching him eyefuck my television screen, I liked it. Good.

Melinda "Heaven Knows" - she blew Gwen away. Okay. I know I'm supposed to be liking this but I'm not. I'm totally bored. eh. somebody can let me know if I missed something important. *fast forward*

Blake "Love Song" - Gwen says he has to be careful when he uses the beatboxing. :( I don't want him to use it. Baby looks good tonight. His voice is sounding really great. No BBing yet. whew. OMG! He didn't use it at all. He's smart and good. *heart* Blake. He's making this season somewhat enjoyable for me.

Jordin "Hey Baby" - ugh. Jordin. *sigh* I don't even know what to say. Not.good.at.all. I do like her. Not getting the praise from the judges. And? Her little outfit is ugly.

Chris "Don't Speak" - "vocal olympics" Gwen said. heh. oooh. He looks good. :) He sounds good too. yay! I really liked that.

Rankings:

Blake
Chris
Phil

okay. 2nd viewing. so far I've liked Lakisha and Gina more than the first time and Sligh less than the first time. I'm liking Sanjaya more than I did the first time and Haley much much less. I really don't know why she's in this. I actually watched Melinda this time and liked it less than I did when I didn't watch it. And I liked Blake slightly less than the first time and Chris slightly more.

New rankings:
Blake
Chris
Gina
Lakisha

SPOILERS for tonight's Idol song choices. If you don't want to know ahead of time, I'm giving you the option to back out of this blog. Here we go. Are you ready? Because here they come. They're coming. Here they are. Ready?

Lakisha Jones - “Love Has a Mind of It’s Own” by Donna Summer
Blake Lewis - “Love Song” by the Cure
Jordin Sparks - “Hey Baby” by No Doubt
Chris Richardson - “Don’t Speak” by No Doubt
Gina Glocksen - “Just Like A Pill” by Pink
Phil Stacey - “Every Breath You Take” by the Police
Haley Scarnato - “True Colors” by Cyndi Lauper
Sanjaya Malakar - “Sunday Morning” by Maroon 5
Melinda Doolittle - “Sunset People” by Donna Summer
Chris Sligh - “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic” by the Police

Isn't it fantastic to see that Lakisha and Melinda are stepping out of there own little zone of comfort? Give me a fucking break. Maybe we will be blessed with a "shocking" boot this week. *sigh* Wishful thinking.

Blake? Please. Please don't beatbox over a Cure song. eek.

I think Jordin can nail "Hey Baby" but I'm not sure about Chris R. and "Don't Speak". I like the song and I like him but hmmmm...

"Just Like A Pill" could go either way, I fear. Gina, please do well this week. Thanks.

Phil's choice of "Every Breath You Take" should be creepy. Dude is scary looking and he's singing a stalker song. Yeah. Good choice.

Haley? I love "True Colors". Okay?

Sanjaya... I don't even know.

Chris Sligh will sing the song well, I'm sure. Just please, dude, don't fuck with a Police song.

Queen sent me a link to an awesome article about Friday Night Lights that was in the Chicago Tribune. You have to register to read it. So I did. It's three pages long so I'm just going to post some of the highlights here.

"The Best TV Show You're Not Watching"
(snip)
"When I first came on [the `FNL'] set, I thought, it's interesting -- this is what I imagined filmmaking would be, before I saw what filmmaking was," says executive producer Jason Katims, the show's head writer and a veteran of beloved cult series such as "Roswell" and "My So-Called Life."
(snip)
There are no fancy lighting setups. Actors are not only allowed but encouraged to improvise their lines. Every single scene is shot in real locations, unlike most TV series, which use prefabricated sets. And with inspiration from what director of photography David Boyd calls "gonzo documentary guys" such as D.A. Pennebaker and David and Albert Maysles, three cameras simultaneously record the action, capturing nuances and moments that many other shows ignore in their forced march to the next plot point.
(snip)
Shooting in real locations in Texas has given the show an authentic feel that it would never have had in Los Angeles, says Chandler, who was raised in a small town in Georgia.

"When you live in this town, you are from Texas. You're experiencing and feeling it. Austin is a great place. It's not hard to get ideas for your character when you just go to breakfast across the street.”

(snip)
But the tone is also set by the unique, documentary style of the show's three roving cameras. As television drama has matured, many shows, such as "24," "Battlestar Galactica" and "The Shield," have used multiple cameras or documentarystyle shooting to amplify the energy and the emotional impact of their shows. But the constant use of at least three cameras is highly unusual, as is the fact that the actors don't rehearse their scenes ahead of time.
(snip)
If "FNL" comes back for a second season, the only major retooling Reilly envisions for it concerns the show's marketing. By focusing on the football aspect of the show, last fall's ads for "FNL" made women feel the show was not for them, when in fact, some weeks there's no football at all, and the Texas drama can be every bit as relationship-driven as anything on ABC's roster.

"At its core, it's a women's show," Reilly says. As Britton says, "It doesn't matter if you're living in a small town in Texas or New York City. We're still talking about a mother-daughter relationship. If you can't stand football but you're passionate about anything, you're going to be able to relate to this."

3/21/07 Results Show

Peter Noone looks good. (I forget who he is though but I know he's old.) It was funny when he was all waving his arms around and looked over at the contestants. Gina was all "whoa" and Chris R. was all *head tilt*. I had to rewind it for DH because he missed it. Sooooo funny. So yeah... those two are all buddy buddy.

LuLu is awesome. I want her to stay on the show.

Ack! My Chris was in the bottom two. Bottom two? How did that happen?
I knew it was going to be Stephanie going home. She couldn't afford the average performance she put on Tuesday night. But still... Chris? In the bottom two? Really? Shouldn't he be able to get by just based on hotness? I'm not getting the Constantscream/Ace/Chris R. comparison. Just.don't.get.that.at.all.

Please don't make me start voting.

3/20/07 - Top Eleven Performance Show

eh. I'm bored with this season.

Haley “Tell Him” – she appears to have a really nice body. I don’t really like her voice at all.

Chris Richardson “Don’t Let the Sun Catch You Crying” – I liked it but I didn’t think it was his best performance to date. (he’s so cute)

Blake “Time of the Season” – loved it! He really made this song current without changing it up too much. It was really really good. And I loved what he was wearing. I’d have liked it more if I could see the tattoos.

Lakisha “Diamonds Are Forever” – meh. I was hoping she’d do “You’re My World”. This was the wrong choice of song. She would have blown that one away. This one? Not so much. She looked great though.

Phil “Tobacco Road” – meh. I was hoping this would be better… but it wasn’t. He sounded pretty good but he just looked uncomfortable. And he needs hair. He needs hair bad.

Jordin “I Who Have Nothing” - !!!!!!! I loved this. She sounded sooooo great. Loved it loved it loved it.

Sanjaya “You Really Got Me” – oh no. *shakes head* What’s up with that little girl?

Stephanie “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me” – I had higher hopes for this. I think she’s in trouble this week.

Gina “Paint It Black” – before she starts, she’s at an unfair disadvantage. The last person I heard sing this song was Ryan Star. So I didn’t like it by default. But I do like her.

Chris Sligh “She’s Not There” – It was good. I didn’t like the coming out of the audience thing. Or the “fro patro” thing. I do like his voice.

Melinda “As Long As He Needs Me” – Yeah, it was good. She’s a really good singer. *twiddles thumbs* What else am I supposed to say? *yawn*

Seriously? What is up with that little crying girl?

Rock Star.

I'm panicking. It's not on CBS's summer schedule. Over at rockband.com, it was suggested that we all send letters and emails asking them to bring it back. Somebody said it takes at least 100,000 letters before they pay attention. I've been emailing but I'm a little too lazy to write letters. I think starting tomorrow, I will send a couple letters per week until we hear something.

I just think it is criminal (CRIMINAL) that there are so many talented musicians left unsigned. If one show like this can bring us fifteen of them for a few months, that is huge. I just think what the show brought me last summer and I can't imagine... Without this show... ugh. It's unthinkable. "hope"

Musicians deserve this show and so do those of us who love music.

Diana Ross sounded horrible. But. She looked great. Her entrance was magnificent.

The Ford commercial, though they are always way too cheesy, was kind of cute. I think Chrises sounded fanfuckingtastic. Shawn was in the other room and I said, "Listen! that's Chris." He was all, "Who?" I go, "Chris. Richardson. {rewind} Listen." Then Chris Sligh came on. It was seriously cheesy, of course, but I really like that Chrises got to shine. And Blake breakdancing? awesome. heh.

So Hayley wasn't in the bottom three. *rolls eyes* And Brandon got sent home. That's a bummer but not totally unexpected. *waves goodbye to eye candy*

ugh. X tells me that anybody with a 4-12 ranking is pretty much fair game for B3 and the boot.

*sigh*

3/13/07 Top Twelve

10:28 and we’re just starting to watch. Hockey went into overtime. Hey the Penguins are staying in Pittsburgh!

Whoa big band. To drown out all the sucking this year, I’m guessing.

Oy. They’re playing with Sanjaya’s hair again.

I will forever remember Diana Ross firstly as the old diva lady who flipped lil kim’s boob and secondly as a Supreme.

Brandon “You Can‘t Hurry Love” - he looks uncomfortable. The stage and the gigantic band are eating him. Love that shirt though. And he’s cute. Ha! He made himself giggle and he lost his place. awww. He sucks. That's too bad.

Yummy! David Boreanaz.

bwahaha
Ryan: stay out of my closet
Simon: come out

bwahahaha

Melinda “Home” - she’s just wonderful. There’s nothing else I can really say.

Chris Sligh “Endless Love” - yikes. I hate this. Very much. (is that the music for Clocks? Jen? WTF?) I love his voice but I hate this arrangement. It’s a mess. He needs to wear his glasses. LOL. Randy said Coldplay and called it a mess.

Gina “Love Child” - awww. She sang this song when she was four. She’s star struck. Is “pronunciate” a word? She’s workin’ it. That was good not great. I’m a fan of hers though. Simon got it right. “a middle pack performance”

Sanjaya “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” - seriously. Leave the kid’s hair alone. What the fucking fuck? Sunshine and cookies. I like his voice. I agree that he's not ready for this but I don't get why people beat him down so much.

Hayley “Missing You” - she’s thinking about her fiance? I was like “awww her fiance died.” He didn’t though. He’s just back at home. This isn’t sucking as much as last week at least. Oh. Ooops. Until she forgot all the fucking words and then started sucking bad. Wow. She’s really bad.
Awww. Simon remembered her name and saved her after the other two gave her negative feedback.

Phil “I‘m Gonna Make You Love Me” - he needs hair so much. I’m glad he made it to the top twelve. I liked this. Last week was awful. This week he’s good.

Lakisha "God Bless The Child" - I'm over her. I think it has something to do with her hating animals. "Kiki"? Love the dress. She looks nice. I liked the singing all but for that one part in the beginning where her vocals tripped over something or something. I still like the other one more.

Blake "You Keep Me Hanging On" - Michael Jackson? Favorite.of.all.time. Really Blake? I like him better with his hair all laying down. His voice sounds great! Loving the mix. To me? This is the different league. He can sing and he knows music. I would buy a Blake CD. I don't want to hear the judges. *covers ears*

ughhhhhhhhhhhhh! I couldn't get Shawn to fast forward through the fucking fuckers commenting negatively on something somebody did that was good. We get it. You want a woman to win. We.get.it. Unfortunately for you, some of us don't really care about how bad we all messed up on Season Three. I liked Fantasia. I liked Latoya. I liked Jennifer. Do we have to relive that? Do you really think it will matter? I need out of this season before my head explodes.

Stephanie "Love Hangover" - I like her. If I'm being honest (sorry too much Simon in my brain), if I had to choose between one of the ten million divas being shoved up our asses this year, I'd vote for her. But I won't vote because I.don't.care. I really like her though and they apparently do not. what.ev.er.

I wonder how I would react to this crap if I was high. We'll find out next week because I'm sick of being angry at these people.

Chris "The Boss" - He is so cute! I don't know this song I don't think. I don't think I like it either. But it doesn't matter because I do like him. He is working the audience. Good for him! Simon, of course, didn't like it because he is not a big black woman. We.get.it.judges.

Jordin "If We Hold On Together" - some really good parts. some eh parts. and some oops parts. typical Jordin, in other words. She's very pretty. The judges are slobbering all over her. Is she their safety net in case one of the chosen two don't win? blah.

blah.

Now it's 11:52 and I have to do a ranking. *sigh*

Vote to keep Friday Night Lights. Even if you don't watch it, take a second and vote. For me. For fans of the show who know that this show deserves to be on television. For those of us who know that television viewers deserve to see this show.

A cult following developed, and though ratings weren't massive, “Friday Night Lights” came to be labeled by many viewers and critics as the best new series of the year.

But it’s moved way beyond that now. Forget "new," it’s now the best show on TV, bar none.

(snip)

While viewers of “Grey’s Anatomy” might know Kyle Chandler as Dylan, the blown-up bomb squad guy, as head football coach Eric Taylor, Chandler has found his calling. The actor can express both frustation and adulation in a twitch of an eyebrow. Chandler has meandered around on TV a bit, but now, with rich writing, he’s successfully delivered what Berg saw in him when casting the series.

(snip)

TV hits are hard to come by. No matter how much a network spends on marketing, viewers ultimately decide what’s best. You can lead an audience to a show, but you can’t make them watch.

“Friday Night Lights” has constructed a masterful winning strategy, but the game still hangs in the balance. It’s now up to NBC to make the right move.

If the series is canceled, I’ll feel for all those who have spoken out about how TV can still inspire, how it can still connect; but, worse, I’ll grieve for those fictional residents of Dillon. To them, a Hail Mary pass will have dropped in the end zone, just out of reach.

3/8/07 Results show

We just watched the results show. I gotta tell ya, I was very surprised to see Antonella and Sundance go. I wasn't sad to see them go but I was very surprised. I wasn't surprised to see Jared go and I was not sad to see him go. Sabrina? I wasn't totally surprised because we all expected it but I was very sad. I get that they had five power voices in the top 24 and she was the weakest of them all but she.is.so.pretty. Shawn said, "What the fuck? They're getting rid of all the pretty ones." Heh.

I'm thrilled that the ones I really like are still there. I have to go do that PTTE thing at some point. I would love a Blake/Melinda Final Two. That? would be fun. But it's just so early. Either one of them could choke at any point (see Mandisa). Or America could get it all wrong again, as usual (Chris Daughtry anybody?).

3/7/07 Top 8 Girls

Oy. Paula’s under the desk. LOL

Jordin “Heartbreaker” - I liked this. The background music and vocals were a little loud. She looks beautiful and yay for football. Funny that she never seems to be tall and then Ryan comes over and stands beside her.

I hope Gina does well.
Sabrina is stunning. Stunning.

Sabrina “Don‘t Let Go” - I like her so I‘m always pleased well enough to rank her high but I never think she has that great of a voice. So I‘m always a little “huh?” when they say she has a great voice. I love that song and they were all dissing the song choice. I‘m in my bubble again.

Antonella “Put Your Records On” - yikes. I love Simon’s comments here. I agree 100% with what he said. And I respect her answer to the criticism. If they really don’t want her there, they need to just shut up and move along.

Haley “If My Heart Had Wings” - hmm. Her voice is surprisingly average. It doesn’t even sound like she was trying to sing. ~omg. I love Simon.~

WTF are they doing? Why are they dragging everything out? Shut.up.and.move.along. Gah.

Stephanie “Sweet Thing” - liked it

Lakisha “I Have Nothing” - she said “doverman”. *rolls eyes* Put the animals away? No thank you. You don’t need to come over if you don’t like animals. I’m a little bored with her already. She looks gorgeous.

Gina “Call Me When You’re Sober” - heh. “don’t feed the trolls” Awesome song choice. I love her. Does she have a perfect voice? No. Is she stunningly gorgeous? No. But hot damn this is what we need. “breath of fresh air” yep. Totally.

Melinda “I‘m A Woman” - That was my favorite performance so far this season. That deserved slobber. She’s great. Can she like go get a neck from somewhere and have like a neck implant? She really needs a neck.

Here’s what it comes down to for me. I don’t need anymore female singers. I have enough. Oh. Unless you’re a female rock singer. We could always use some more of those.

Rankem:

Melinda
ummmm.... I don't know.
Gina
Lakisha
Sabrina
Stephanie
Jordin
Antonella
Haley - yes, I disliked it that much

3/6/07 Top 8 Guys

Oy! They straightened Sanjaya’s hair. Who hires these hair people? Remember Bucky’s Superstition hair? *sigh*

I am watching live with commercials. This is unheard of. Stupid Comcast.

Awwwwwwww. Chris Richardson is so cute. *pinches cheeks*

Blake “All Mixed Up” - not loving it but appreciating that nobody else there could do it. Seems too slow or something. But he’s refreshing. I like him. Lots.

Sanjaya “Waiting on the World to Change” - He’s so cookies. Saccharine. Sugar cookies. I cannot comment on his performance. Or his hair. Because … because he‘s cookies and sunshine.

Sundance “Jeremy” - *GASP!* Get this fool out of my television! How dare he. That was disgusting. Randy and Paula liked it. pfffft.

Coo coo ca choo Mrs. Robinson…
Good lordy Chris Richardson is cute.

Woo hoo! Travis Tritt “here comes t-r-o-u-b-l-e..”

Chris Richardson “Tonight I Wanna Cry” - awwww. I love this song. Yay Keith! *waves to Augie* Not karaoke at all. He’s great. He can be himself even singing a country song. I agree with Simon. There’s more to come from this boy.

Jared “If You Really Love Me” - bye bye Jared. *vomit*

Brandon “I Just Want To Celebrate” - piano is hot. *dancing around living room* Best from him so far but I really believe he can do so much better. I hope he gets the chance to prove it.

Phil “I Need You” - started off weird. And stayed just weird. It was a bummer for me.

Chris Sligh “Wanna Be Loved” - He’s very easy to appreciate, I think. Easily the best of the night.

Rankings? *sigh*

Chris Sligh - I’m starting to think I might as well just keep him up here.
Blake - kinda slow or something but still appreciated
Chris Richardson - I’m kinda tired of hearing how he’s a “karaoke singer”. If cuddleclonepuppy was a “karaoke” singer, he’d copy the original version of each song. Right? Or do I misunderstand what “karaoke singer” means? Please. Fucking enlighten me. Because to me he sounds the same (albeit a little much like a Justin clone but that’s where my little nickname for him comes from and I LIKE Justin) on every song. He sounds just like Chris Richardson every time he sings. *shrug*
Brandon - I want him to do bigger things with his vocals because I know he can.

*sigh*

Jared - blech
Sanjaya -*smiley face* I love you, Sanjaya but really. Come on. Please.
Phil - so just weird this week
Sundance - go away, you hateful pile of poop. And after you are out of my television, please write a letter of apology to Eddie Vedder. It’s the least you could do. Really. It’s the least you could do.

I bet Paul Kim would have been blowing our asses away by now. pffffft.
And Nick? Don't get me started on Nick after this shit we just had to put up with tonight.

I got sucked into voting. Don't tell anybody. I'm not doing it next week. *squinty eyes*
My DVR went kaplooie so I lost my previously recorded FNLs, I suppose. This? makes me cry.

So I started watching YouTube videos of the show and some compilation hickeys that fans have put together. I'd love to try to do that at some point. Anyway... This? This is gorgeous.

So is this. wow.
'Sokay. I found a message board for General Hospital (thanks to zbaby) and in doing so, I found out that all that work I was doing with the FNL episodes was totally unnecessary. :) All I have to do here is give my thoughts on the episodes. TWoP does an AWESOME job of doing what I did for the first three episodes (and it was A LOT of work).

I was looking for something on GH because I just do not understand who I am supposed to like and who I'm not supposed to like. I have always always loved Carly so that ain't changing. My faves are Carly, Jason, Sonny, and Lucky. I stopped watching it altogether when the real Lucky (Jonathan Jackson, see below) was "killed". Then for a while I would watch here and there. I just recently started watching regularly again. So a lot of the relationship dynamics are lost on me. I don't think anybody else here watches it though but my mom and my sister do.

In other GH news... We need more (shirtless) storyline time for Nikolas:

Anyway, I will be writing up my thoughts on the FNL episodes soon. Now that I realize I don't have to type up the ENTIRE episode. woo hoo! (Maybe today since I don't seem to have anything else going on. zzzzzzzz)

ETA: Yikes. TWoP's GH forum has 4778 pages. I've been flipping back and forth and around and around. It starts at the end of 2003/beginning of 2004 so I'm still going to miss a lot of what happened while I wasn't watching. But. I just read that Sonny shot Carly! In the head?!?! wow. He may not be one of my favorites anymore. :(

Friday, March 02, 2007

oh my. Poor Nick.

I told Shawn on Tuesday night that I wanted to find that song as sung by Nick to load it onto the iPod and do a striptease for him (when I don't gross myself out naked).

ugh and sweet little AJ!

Why do I torture myself year after year by watching this show?
